Why ETC?

Violence and other social issues that plague the African American community are rooted in lack of economic opportunities.  The Emerging Technology Consortium (ETC) addresses “Income Inequality” and unstable communities by developing comprehensive programs based on investments in America’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and transforming them from purely educational institutions to economic inclusion centers by adding research commercialization and new company formation to their mission.  This transformation moves these institutions to employment and job creation centers and permits the African American and minority community to own companies in next generation industries including Precision Medicine, Robotics and Advance Manufacturing.  Increasing Black ownership in these industries and locating these new economy industries in these communities are the seeds of community transformation.  This unique understanding of the link between Research and Development (R&D) and community revitalization is what makes the ETC unique.
